@ the movies

TRAILER
MICHAEL MOORE is back with a burning question: Where to invade next? With his usual wit and candor the documentary producer travels the world in search of the answer. The cinematography is excellent as we visit countries like Italy, Slovenia, France, Germany, Norway and Tunisia where I was delighted to see the extraordinary progress the country has made with women's rights. The director and star looks at all the pertinent issues that are mind-blowingly mismanaged in the USA right now! It is shocking that a marvelous country like the USA cannot treat its colored citizens better, feed its children better, educate them better! There is one photograph taken in the early parts of the last century that briefly flashes of about thirty white men smiling as a young black man is being burned alive. I am sorry, I do not understand why this was acceptable behavior for these men. Oh I know torture is relentlessly ongoing with all kinds of victims all around the world- but I don't get it! Moore is told repeatedly that the philosophies he is admiring in a foreign country were inspired by the USA. It is a very sad fact, but at the same time there is a lot of hope. One phrase he said about the USA struck me: "I am from a country built on genocide and on the backs of slaves." And I would add that the country suffers total denial about how the world sees it, behaving like the schoolyard bully even towards their president!

Well worth the time and reflexion.

The Gods Of Egypt is stunningly beautiful!
CHADWICK BOSEMAN as Thor
There is gold everywhere and the God's blood is gold! The story begins with the very handsome rising actor BRENTON THWAITES as a young man in love, Bek. He and his sweetheart, Zaya played by COURTNEY EATON, are getting ready for the coronation of Horus played by NIKOLAJ COSTER-WALDAU of Game of Thrones fame. His antagonist Set is played by GERARD BUTLER and RA is played by no other than GEOFFREY RUSH. But my favorite interpretation was from CHADWICK BOSEMAN as Thor. I love his costume. I love that the Gods are represented as giants as they walk beside mere mortals, I love the re-creation of mythical Egypt with its extraordinary elegance and slick and the strange interpretation given by Rush of the God RA. The story is not complicated, it is a battle for power with many fights and special effects but I enjoyed it. I am in awe of the beautiful film making of today's artists. It is in 3D.

Have a great time at the movies!

EDITORIAL: I reply to Bill Gates Linked In letter

This morning I took a moment to read BILL GATES letter concerning his hopes for the future of mankind. Now I know that self-made billionaires like M. Gates and MARK ZUCKERBERG and RICHARD BRANSON eventually MUST consider offering views, philanthropic views that is, politically correct philanthropic views to be precise, to help all of us non-billionaires make sense of why they have all the money and we struggle for every crumb.

This past Monday's letter concerned the much needed quest for clean new sources of energy to help impoverished nations. Looks so wise, so sane, so much like the real solution to poverty! BUT WAIT!!!!

The first issue to be considered before wasting huge amounts of precious resources on finding NEW sources of clean energy to help the poor of the world, who will, by the way, have to PAY for the new clean energy billionaire corporations will create for them to not be poor anymore, the first issue should be: WHERE IS OUR ENERGY GOING TO RIGHT NOW?

If modern people would stop wasting energy and resources on death and its machine, war, everybody on earth would have enough energy to not be poor, for example! All countries and cultures are guilty of this wasteful behavior so I am not talking about politics. If politicians would stop trying to be media stars by using all that energy to look good to us, and most of us are not fooled by the multimedia presentations of said politicians, energy could be shared to educate poor people. Examples of misused energy are abundant!

So M. Bill Gates here is one source of CLEAN ENERGY TO HELP THE POOR : GOOD MANAGEMENT OF CURRENT SOURCES!

Emerge Art and the intellectual paradox of our time

On the first day I photographed water making images, I saw this most meaningful composition. I am in the center with my camera as water manifested this combination. It is very evocative and made me so curious to see what else it would do. Photo © Lena Ghio, 2013
GRAVITY

" So, the upshot is that gravity drives both gravitational waves and gravity waves, but they have very different properties that shouldn’t be confused. "
Gravitational Waves vs. Gravity Waves: Know The Difference
Feb 8, 2016 09:34 PM ET // by Ian O'Neill

I am so pleased that LIGO has proven Gravitational Waves. Of course they are astrophysicists  and they will use their methodologies and technologies to continue mapping the universe. To measure my comments with the scientific definitions of gravitational wave vs gravity wave, I will have to call the gravitational modulations of celestial mechanics effect on earth gravity waves. But to pursue my argument I will treat all gravitational fluctuations as the various manifestations of the one thing. Like you would say a lake and the ocean are both filled with water regardless of the variables. So in the examples I will show you, we are in a "lake" whereas LIGO's work concerns the "ocean".

Forensic Photoshop process of filtering the
image to reveal the action of water. Original on bottom.

I am excited for what LIGO's discovery means to my transdisciplinary art practice: the creation of art using knowledge of the operations of gravitational modulations and the Theory of Everything (TOE)  to document the phenomena predicted by this equation E = MC 2 / G + RF = T + S : THAT MY PRACTICE IS BASED ON A STRONG SCIENTIFIC FOUNDATION. The quote on top resumes how science has categorized the effects of gravity on nature. However, LIGO registered a passing gravity wave that came from an incalculably distant place in the universe here on earth! This means that this gravitational wave, only one of who knows how many, affected all the living creatures on the planet however subtly. For one thing, it has changed forever how we see the universe. Gravity has operated to alter humanity's view of the world. THAT is how astrology works, through gravity wavesLIGO's discovery proves that gravity waves are propelled forward by Alignment Geometries of Celestial Mechanics ( AGCM ) or the motions of celestial objects. In other words, they have also proven astrology. Again, as in Einstein's original experiment with the eclipse, in the LIGO experiment, the evidence is secured because gravity bends light. Gravity played a major role in the early universe to produce boundless molecules and compounds then stars and water, and life. The LIGO evidence solidifies the role of gravity in TOE but it fails to be comprehensive about applications useful for life on earth or how to measure the consequences of interacting with gravity. My work takes the understanding of gravity to our pragmatic every day level where it can begin to be understood as a force we can engineer. To get there, we must look at it's effect between the moon and the earth, not just at large in the universe. There is a childish notion scientists stick too stubbornly and that is that gravitational modulations do not affect us, that what happens on the surfaces of planets is not part of the fabric of space-time! So they have ridiculed astrology, the original science without which they would not know what they know today and they have failed in understanding how it molds life and affects DNA and evolution, they have failed to solve TOE. The difference between astrology and astronomy is that astrology focuses on the language of celestial mechanics in the same way a musician can make music by using the language of musical notes. Whereas astronomy is studying all the physical attributes of the various musical notes without being capable of creating a symphony. Astrologers have studied various facets of time and space, the distribution of mass ( the planets ) and their angles to one another (AGCM) to get a sense of the implications of gravity waves on human life. From my perspective it is a very naïve view that scientists take when dealing with gravity because it DOES create things and destroy things. When you engage gravity, you set up a chain of events.

All the phenomena photographed and shown here are evidence of the effect of gravity waves produced by AGCM as they reach the earth and affect substance.

Revelation 12:15 (English Standard Version)
"The serpent poured water like a river out of his mouth
after the woman, to sweep her away with a flood." The image

certainly compelled my research into the language of water.

GOD

*WHAT IF what our ancestors described as God was not a figment of their imagination but their personal interpretation of real phenomena that were so impressive to them they divinized them? And perhaps they were right to honor the mystery that is life on earth. Science is trying to find evidence that spirituality or divine events are only imaginary events perceived by a part of the human brain, the God spot, instead of being real cognition of unexplained events. It is the science of "neurotheology" and ANDREW NEWBERG is one of its prominent searchers. Many physicists have decided to announce to the world, without evidence to back them up, that God does not exist or, if they believe in God they cannot really determine a scientific basis for their thoughts. If you put the opening phrase* of this paragraph in context with the evidence I have provided, it suggests our ancestor's brains were fine and they were reacting to real independent phenomena!

On this blog I have provided numerous examples of how water creates images spontaneously in the right context, autonomous images that it creates through refraction, micro-waves and just extemporaneously. Our planet is 71% water. Imagine all this water reacting creatively and emotionally to the universe. Eventually life emerged and began evolving mirroring what water was reacting to.

" EZEKIEL 1:1
... the heavens were opened and I saw visions of God"
We are poised to understand the physics behind what our
ancestors called God. It will not remove its splendor.

Emerge Art fits into the equation E = MC 2 / G + RF = T + S because the phenomena resurfaced as Neptune ( image making ) began it's cycle in Pisces ( water ). Furthermore, these signs govern my home at this time and that is where, space, I photographed water making images. This is one example how the fabric of space-time opens extra-dimensions from our perspective, how our lives flow from scenery to scenery.

We are about to prove the physiology of the Great Man of Native American cultures that many cultures have identified as God. If this is so, regardless of all theories about God's universal omnipotence, we will discover a fragile being in the context of the universe, a being responsible for us being alive and one now discarded by idiots and savants. It would mean that this Great Man is subject to the rule of gravity like all objects. It would mean it cannot interfere in the fate gravity has in store for us at the material level. It would answer the question of millions upon millions of suffering human beings begging to know why God let's evil things happen.

THE INTELLECTUAL PARADOX OF OUR TIME

Normand, a lemon tree, was planted to be affected by the
same model of AGCM that formed the human features in
the clouds in front of the sun. These are two of the faces he
manifested. My hypothesis was that if gravity waves propelled
forward by celestial mechanics through AGCM affect
the evolution of life by informing a living entity's DNA, then
the lemon tree would manifest the same form as seen in the
clouds at a similar AGCM because that was the
command of space time or gravity. And it did!

We have the opportunity to re-examine with the scientific method the phenomena that are no doubt at the heart of many early religions. If we are currently all delighted by the ability to look into endless blackholes and universal death scenarios of galaxies, while here on earth more and more people are experiencing deep depression due to our planet's ecology and exhaustion, does it not move your heart at all that we can now document the Spirit reaching out to us? I have enough evidence to support the belief that we can, and that we will, develop a language with water that will repair our relationship with the Divine without the mafia like behavior and persecution of brutes and politics. The work I am doing will allow everyone to understand their link to Spirit, it lets everyone know that they are seen by Spirit and how It knows everything! My work is showing you that you are never alone regardless of what happens.

Both men of science and men of God will be challenged to release their deeply ingrained assumptions if they wish to remain relevant because we the masses now have direct access to the source. Men of politics will no longer be empowered to speak in the name of God, or claim Divine Rights, as we the masses will look at truth directly!

" All scientific discoveries are profound and many eventually have everyday applications that we take for granted. "

More exhibitions / Encore d'autres expositions

@ MAC - RAGNAR KJARTANSSON
11.02.2016 -22.05.2016

A scene from The Visitors, 2012
Une scène de The Visitors, 2012
Français plus bas

How tho describe the art of RAGNAR KJARTANSSON? That was my first question when I entered the first piece World Light - The Life and Death of an Artist, 2015 at the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art. The room is all dark with four large screens where different scenes are unfolding and the sounds from each of them overwhelm the space. There are some plush seats in the center to accommodate a large number of people at a time. A friend sat beside me and we began to chat. "I don't understand the language." I told him. We looked at the images of a woman being layed in a wooden cabin, a man dying on the rocky bank of a cold river, a man in an evening jacket speaking, and a father with young children around the dinner table. We became engrossed in our conversation and when we returned our attention to the screens, entirely different stories filled the screens. Then I got it! It is as if the artist used all the theatrical devices at hand to create vivid tableaux, as rich as classical painting but alive with music and drama. All the sets are hand painted. The focus is on relationships and collaborations. This is how the artist works and what his work represents.

The artist will be in Montreal starting March 2nd for his live performance at Place des Arts on March 3rd 2016  The Explosive Sonics of Divinity a spectacular musical and theatrical event that will leave you breathless!

FRANÇAIS

Comment décrire l'art de RAGNAR KJARTANSSON? C'était ma première question quand je suis entrée dans la pièce World Light - The Life and Death of an Artist, 2015, au Musée d'art contemporain de Montréal.

POMPEII & +

POMPEII 06.02.2016 - 05.09.2016

Earlier this month the long awaited exhibition POMPEII opened to the public at the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts. I have never visited the ravaged city although many of my friends have. I was quite excited about the prospect of being near some of the vestiges of ancient Rome.

Photo © Lena Ghio 2016
The exhibition covers many aspects of ancient Roman life from plumbing, to sex, to the making of bread. The concept is to re-create the feeling of walking through a piece of the Italian city and give you various immersive experiences produced by contemporary creators such as In SituGraphics eMotion and the movie Soleil noir by LAURENT GRASSO. Right at the beginning there is a display of tiny coins that fascinated me no end.  Stamped on each coin the features of one of Rome's great Emperors. It felt awesome to get a sense of how these men may have looked, like CALIGULA, the decadent Emperor who descended into madness. The many sculptures of the exhibition are stunningly beautiful, well-executed and preserved. There are mosaic pieces that are so delicately and sharply made, the most striking ones are one of the sea creatures and the other the expressive face of a young girl. I LOVED to see their plumbing pipes! They were masters of water! How delicious life must have been for the nobles of that time when nature was close and abundant!

The curators of the exhibition are PAUL DENIS from the Royal Ontario Museum and LAURA VIGO, an archeologist working with the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts.

There is a rich program of activities including movies and conferences to take in including a special selection of musical performances offered by Fondation ARTE Musica.

The Shapes of Politics / LES FORMES POLITIQUES

In collaboration with Fonderie Darling and Antoine Ertaskiran Gallery, the Museum wanted to present a continuing reflection on the subjects of myths and politics from a contemporary perspective. The accent of this particular exhibition curated by MARIE-ÈVE BEAUPRÉ is on the concealments involved in various political games.

I must confess the exhibition was not what I expected since the headless bird-man featured in the announcement suggested to me works representing human like characters. Instead I felt like I was inside an Egyptian tomb with the symbolic God in the back of the chamber and superbly put together digital art prints of hypnotic repeating motifs covered the walls of the mysterious chamber. It is an elegant and sober exhibition.

Embrace of the Serpent

TRAILER

Theodor Koch-Grünberg in the Amazon
Credit:Theodor Koch-Grünberg
I first heard of this Oscar Nominated Columbian movie this summer during the FNC ( Festival du Nouveau Cinéma ) , one of Montreal's most popular film festivals. It was on my must see list but I just now got to screen this delicious, violent, epic tale that transcends the surface story of the surviving Amazon shaman who encounters two scientific explorers of the west at two significant stages of his own life. The story pits human culture against the world. In the course of human evolution, man became so enamored with his potential that he even believed he could rule over God. This ageless battle is well illustrated in an encounter with a Capuchin monk who maintains an orphanage for boys in the heart of the jungle. This "religious man" beats the children into accepting his religion, denying them their birthright connection to the world, nature. Man has often been heard saying that he will dominate nature. Especially after natural catastrophes. Today, we have mastered many of her forces. You reading this phrase for example. But we are still reliving the very struggle this movie explores by taking us on the river with men of knowledge from two distinct cultures.

The director CIRO GUERRA was inspired by this photo on the right of THEODOR KOCH-GRÜNBERG, a German ethnologist who documented the lives of indigenous people of Brazil and who witnessed the particular magical bond that exists between human beings and nature:

"In this moment, it is not possible for me to know, dear reader, if the infinite jungle has started on me the process that has taken many others that have ventured into these lands, to complete and irremediable insanity.
If this is the case, I can only apologize and ask for your understanding, for the display I witnessed in those enchanted hours was such, that I find it impossible to describe in a language that allows others to understand its beauty and splendor; all I know is that, like all those who have shed the thick veil that blinded them, when I came back to my senses, I had become another man.” — Theodor Koch-Grünberg, 1907
Ciro Guerra is very adept at portraying on films the magical realism of South American arts. Here is a trailer of another film  The Wind Journeys where the tale revolves around a magical accordion.

Le Petit Prince / The Little Prince

Bande Annonce / Trailer
•English Below

This Friday, get ready for a treat! The animated film directed by MARK OSBORNE, a director who won first prize at the Sundance Film Festival in 1999 for the short animated film MORE, and who is co-director of the Kung Fu Panda franchise, brings back to life one of the most beloved stories of French literature: The Little Prince by ANTOINE de SAINT-EXUPÉRY.

We rediscover the classic through the eyes of a young girl whose well-meaning mother smothers under the weight of extraordinary disciplines and expectations. Soon, the retired airplane pilot that lives next door opens her imagination to wonderful new worlds. The philosophy is simple: Live in this moment! Love what you have now! Don't become trapped by routines!
The technical beauty of this 3D movie charmed me totally!

This week we received details of this year's programming at the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Arts. The year begins with a multimedia exhibition by RAGNAR KJARTANSSON curated by JOHN ZEPPETELLI Chief curator and Director of the museum. The artist expresses himself with complex performances, musical and theatrical performances, and video installations, although his modes of expression are still expanding. Three major works will fill the museum: A A Lot of Sorrow (2013), a new acquisition of the museum, World Light (2015),  The Visitors (2012): and a major performance at Place des Arts one night only 03.03.2016 of the outstanding The Explosive Sonics of Divinity. The magic of his performances and video installations is that they blur the line between fact and fiction, they are presented on many screens at once and create the illusion that we are walking through one dimension to enter the next, invisible visitors in other realms.

Two curators, LESLEY JOHNSTONE and DAN ADLER, will assume the task of presenting the work of many decades produced by Canadian artist LIZ MAGOR. Her interest is for sculpture and installations that can be monumental or intimate. She works mostly with spinning, textiles, rubber and polymerized gypsum. She says of her work: “ I am always looking for comfort in a world disturbingly subject to change. Sometimes I find it in work, as a recording of my activity. Sometimes I find it in objects, things that sit still for awhile and slowly gather, then release, their history. I wanted to do work that would objectify some history of a life, or at least the life of a body and the process of change that affects that body. ”

The third major exhibition curated by MARC LANCTÔT this year where the concept at heart is «post-internet» art. RYAN TRECARTIN and LIZZIE FITCH have been successfully collaborating with each other for more than a decade receiving accolades from the art world. Their work combines scripted videos and performance art that are then presented in complex installations. I find it fascinating that the curator states that the direction they take us on with their art concerns the moment NOW when on the one hand technique and technology, and on the other, humanity have reached "a tipping point whose effects are difficult to gage at this time". This fascinates me because the subjects they film, CENTER JENNY for example,  are only young of people performing, or auto-performing as they say, in costumes, in play acting, and so on. Meanwhile our technology is grasping so much more than human behavior and this fact appears to transcend the artists totally. I will get back to you on this during the summer when I have seen the actual works and talked with the creators.

Philippe Pirote
We received a brief update for the upcoming Biennale curated by PHILIPPE PIROTE, an art historian born in Belgium. I spoke to him briefly this fall and at the time he was preparing Brainstorming activities with a shortlist of well known curators. The direction for the event will be the question: is hedonism possible today?
We will get more details in May.
