MONTREAL ENGLISH THEATRE alive and well!

The month of March was very busy on the Montreal cultural scene. But it is never too late to talk about the theatre and Montreal English Theatre was announcing the coming year's attractions.

Hudson Village Theatre made a big splash with titles like BLIND DATE - 16.06. - 28.06.2015, THE GLASS MENAGERIE - 08.07 - 26.07.2015, BINGO LADIES, THE MUSICAL - 12.08. - 30.08.2015, JAKE'S GIFT - 16.09 - 20.09.2015

Shakespeare in the Park celebrates it's 27th year 02.07 - 26.07.2015 with TWELFTH NIGHT. FREE! Just bring your lawn chair.

Geordie Productions celebrates 35 years! Congrats! and presents a moving play by Emil Sher, HANA'S SUITCASE 05.11. - 15.11.2015. On tour from September 2015 through April 2016 two new plays SIDEWALK CHALK and SQUAWK.

Black Theatre Workshop is celebrating 45 years! Congrats! and will present 3 plays written by 3 Canadian Black female writers: ADVENTURES OF A BLACK GIRL IN SEARCH OF GOD by Djanet Sears 22.09. - 18.10.2015, BINTI'S JOURNEY adapted by Marcia Johnson 01.02. - 19.02.2016, SHE SAID / HE SAID by Anne-Marie Woods 13.04 - 01.05.2016

Imago Theatre focuses on the feminine voice. PIG GIRL is inspired by the real life continuing disappearance and murder of marginalized women and the failure of our bureaucracies to solve or stop these crimes January / February 2016. HER SIDE OF THE STORY is a blend of public readings, master classes, panels, discussions and more May 2016. ARTISTA is the mentorship program of Imago Theatre to empower Montreal's female youth January - April 2016.

The Other Theatre is working on LOVE U LOVECRAFT that will be seen 22.03. - 02.04.2016

Scapegoat Carnivale Theatre is preparing a new Canadian play BAR KAPRA THE SQUIRREL HUNTER for the upcoming season but you will see them at the Montreal Fringe Festival 11.06 - 21.06.2015

Meanwhile the SEGAL CENTRE THEATRE is also brewing a rich programming for the coming months. Artistic Director Lisa Rubin told us about seven Montreal premieres that got us excited:

The musical FUNNY GIRL will be presented 11.10. - 01.11.2015. Peter Hinton will be directing the play whose movie version made Barbra Streisand a star.

TRIBES will be presented 29.11. - 20.12.2015, THE SECRET ANNEX 31.01. - 21.02.2016,
BOOM 20.03. - 10.04.2015, BAD JEWS, directed by Lisa Rubin, 01.05. - 22.05.2016,
I LOVE YOU, YOU'RE PERFECT, NOW CHANGE 08.05 - 29.05.2016 and THE PRODUCERS, a new Mel Brooks musical will make its world yiddish premiere 19.06. - 10.07.2016

Also look up the CENTAUR THEATRE for  their exciting programming.
